Founder's Story

Vanessa began her career at Ernst & Young, working on IT audits and cybersecurity assessments. She kept seeing the same challenge: companies couldn’t clearly track what technology they had, how it was used across teams, or what they were really spending. Information lived in scattered spreadsheets, and planning was often guesswork.

Years later, working in Big Tech, the problem hadn’t changed, just the scale.

Seeing how persistent it was (and how much AI could help), Vanessa decided to build the solution herself. She taught herself to code, spoke with leaders facing the same pain, and built the first Alta prototype.

That early prototype—built alongside a talented team—became Alta today: a thoughtfully designed platform that gives finance, operations, and IT teams a clear, complete view of their technology spend across SaaS, cloud, data centers, and employee hardware.

The name “Alta” means “high” in Spanish —
a nod to Vanessa’s roots as a Latina and daughter of immigrants,
and to what teams need most: a high-level, holistic view.
